Leprechaun Playground: Invitation to Play on Styrofoam

With Saint Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I thought I’d share a fun invitation to play for your little ones. Now, I’ll be honest – we are only a pinch (😉) Irish. However, we didn’t want to miss out on all the green cheer! While I loved seeing all the leprechaun traps out there, we weren't very keen on that idea. Instead, we thought it would be fun to make a place for him to play!

What you’ll need:

  • Styrofoam

  • X-Acto knife or box cutter

  • Acrylic paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Pipe cleaners, toothpicks, mini marshmallows, buttons, beads, etc.

Start by cutting your styrofoam to size and painting them. We painted the largest piece green and then the smaller pieces blue. I also painted white clouds on the blue pieces.

I also painted a small wood container black and filled it with shiny buttons that looked like gold.

From there, the possibilities were endless. We made a rainbow with pipe cleaners and a climbing structure from marshmallows and toothpicks. My daughter also loved using cute shamrock toothpicks for trees.

Don't you love finding activities that keep your kids creatively engaged? This was definitely a home run, so I hope you give it a try!

Have a happy (and healthy) Saint Patricks Day!
