We love collecting treasures at the beach, but the problem is what to do with them when we get home. They often end up in a bowl or down in the basement, where they get lost with the rest of the clutter. This time, we decided to take a collection of clamshells and turn them into a Halloween-themed memory game.

Here are the steps we took to make it:
We soaked the clamshells in bleach and water, to get them extra clean. I then rinsed them off and dried them.

With acrylic paints, I painted background colors.

Then I painted designs, two of each kind.

Let the games begin!

My daughter loved playing over and over, testing how quickly she could remember the matches. Even my 23-month-old joined in on the fun!
