Did you know that small rocks make awesome mosaic pieces? Their varied smooth and pointed edges fit together like tiny puzzle pieces. So, next time you're outside, collect a bunch and try this simple and beautiful activity.

What you’ll need:

Divide the pebbles into small resealable bags. Squirt about one tablespoon of paint into each bag. Seal and shake until all the rocks are evenly coated.
Spread the painted rocks on a flat surface and let dry completely. Occasionally rotate, so they dry on all sides.

Once dry, begin assembling your mosaic. We created two different kinds:
Color-By-Number: Draw an outline of an image and write numbers inside each section. Then, create a key where each number referenced equals a color. Place the painted pebbles on the correct numbers to complete the mosaic.
Color-Match: Draw an outline of an image and color, using whatever medium you prefer.
Place the painted pebbles on the matching color to complete the mosaic.
