Have you ever made your own stepping stones? We created simple stencils from cereal box cardboard, placed them atop wet plaster and filled in the spaces with colorful pieces. It's a perfect way to dress up any flower bed!

Here are the steps we took to make these beauties:

Trace the perimeter of the container in which you will be making the stepping stone.
Fold in half and cut half an image along the fold. This works best with a thin cardboard, such as from a cereal box.

Pour mixed plaster into your container (a flexible plastic container works best). Let it sit for a few minutes to thicken a bit, then place the cardboard stencil on top. Finally, begin filling the space with an assortment of loose parts.

When the plaster has hardened completely, loosen the edges of the container and remove the stepping stone. We also sanded the edges, for a smoother finish.

Don't forget to waterproof before displaying them in your garden! We used an outdoor waterproofing spray.
